I've been working on some other things these last couple of days and I apologize for being on that slip-and-slide with regards to posting.

To make up for it, I've posted this FULL LETTERED PAGE for your viewing pleasure!

Changes to dialogue and art may still be in the cards but for the moment this is finished.

Blackspotting!!!

As I'm sure I've said on this blog many times before, I'm MUCH more inclined to work with just line and throwing hard dark shapes into the equation is something that's especially challenging.

That being said, when your panel comes together, it's a beautiful thing.

Might add some more black in weeks to come (also need to get rid of a few tangents I just noticed), but for now, this panel's done.

At the rate I'm breaking my own rules, this whole thing will probably be up before I even start the dedicated site.

This came together very nicely. I'm gonna go back into it and probably add/subtract/re-work black placement (word balloons need to go in too) but for now, it's done!

This still needs a little bit more methinks but it's getting there... I also REALLY REALLY REALLY want to color this bad boy for print and wish someone would drop a few grand in my bank account so this could happen.

If you're feeling kind and want to dump the above mentioned in my bank account I'll bestow upon you a rather intimidating title, like "______ the Brick Flipper" or "_______ the Dope Chopper".

If you want something less intimidating I can do that too.

Little bit o' Lettering

I took a bit of a detour today and started to work on lettering for the comic.

What you see above is not final mind you. I hand-letter using a lightbox after mocking things up in Illustrator.

I inked another page that I'm especially happy with this afternoon and this is a two panel tier is from said page (as always, letters still to come).

Inking for color vs. inking for B&W

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a bit on the fence as to whether or not I'm going to color this comic.

Part of me really wants to as I think it's what the comic needs and it would provide me with a challenge. The other part of me thinks not I'd be punking out on an even greater challenge; that of making the thing read in just black and white.

Above is the same panel inked for both color and black and white re-production respecitively. Until I make up my mind, I'm going to scan the pages twice as I've done above and we'll see how things go.

Thumbin'

Thumbnail-ing (is that the right place to put the hyphen?) is one of my favorite parts of the creative process. I'd put my thumbnails up all the time but I don't think they're usually interesting to anyone besides me.

That being said, I think there's something else going on in today's batch o' scribbles and I'm throwing it up!

Second Time's the Charm

Re-pencilled page one today... This panel turned out especially well I think.

Inking FAIL!!!

There's a reason why Sci-fi comics aren't inked with dead-lines and messy blacks.

I learned that reason the hard way tonight.

I'll be changing up my approach for tomorrow and hopefully it yields better results.

Gotta love a good non-sequitor.

What you see above is the first of 122 pages that I'll be pencilling this calendar year. I'm come up with eight short stories which I'll beging serializing online in July and then hopefully collect (PRINT) at the beginning of 2013.

As I said in my previous post, I'm not going to be posting up finished pages. I put up finished pencils today because I'm really happy with how these turned out but I'm going to stick mostly with thumbnails and single inked panels.

I'll be updating every day (REALLY) so be sure to check back frequently!!!
